SESH ON THE BEACH: When Colombia’s Cannabis Ritual Took Root in Miami

There’s something special about the drive across Biscayne Bay.

As you cross the Rickenbacker Causeway, the city falls away. The water opens up, boats drift by, and the air gets heavier with salt, breeze, and anticipation. It’s the kind of drive that resets your head. And by the time you hit Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, you’re already in a different mindset. On April 6, that shoreline became the site of something big. For the first time ever, the iconic Colombian cannabis event SESH ON THE BEACH made its U.S. debut—brought to Miami in collaboration with Hive, Puntorojo, Nageia Dispensario, and BAKED!

Born on the beaches of Colombia, SESH ON THE BEACH has grown into more than a gathering. It’s a vibe, a ritual, and a reminder of how cannabis culture can be—real, intentional, and connected. The Miami edition didn’t try to replicate that feeling—it let it evolve naturally.

Music That Moved the Sand

DJ Mekkadon set the tone early—blending reggae, classic hip-hop, and Latin rhythms into a soundtrack that felt like it belonged here. His set didn’t overpower the space—it lived in it. People danced barefoot. Others just nodded along, letting the sound carry them deeper into the day.

Cannabis Culture, Done Right

There were no lines, no wristbands, no loud branding. Just great people, good smoke, and thoughtful setups that invited you in. Terp Tunnel brought beautifully rolled hash holes—clean, consistent, and terpy. At the Dr. Dabber bar, smooth dabs were served up by a chill crew who knew their gear inside and out. Over at the Storz & Bickel Volcano Lounge, vapor bags floated through the air like smoke signals from another era.

Budlust Exotics and Hustle Hash showed up heavy with terp-loaded flower and rosin that didn’t need a pitch—just a spark. Cookies, the official Florida dispensary sponsor, moved lowkey through the space. No big displays. Just good people repping the brand the right way. The OCB hut was one of the most interactive stations—rolling papers, cones, trays, and all the tools to build your own goody bag and roll one on the spot. Ultra Smooth Vapes added a digital twist with a surprise crypto token giveaway—simple, unexpected, and actually kind of cool.

What stood out most? Nobody was trying to “sell” you. It all just flowed.

The Munchies

The food was on point, too. Dutch Boys Wafels pressed hot stroopwafels that got people lining up for seconds. Nearby, a rotating food and beverage station served tropical mocktails, fresh fruit, and snacks that felt light, refreshing, and perfect for the environment.

No greasy food truck energy here—just clean, easy options that kept the vibes intact.

A Moment to Slow Down

Not far from the music, Terra Chic created a space to breathe. They set up DIY terrarium kits so people could build their own little living art piece and take something rooted home. Simple idea. Huge impact. A few steps away, artist Andre Salas painted live all day, turning the energy of the event into color on canvas. His final piece is being raffled to benefit Freedom Grow, a reminder that celebration and activism can live side by side.

It Started With a Cleanup

Before the sesh even began, something important happened.

Just after sunrise, the teams from BAKED!, CannabisLAB, and local volunteers met at the beach—not to party, but to clean. Trash bags, gloves, and positive energy. Just people showing up with respect. Virginia Key Beach Park has history. It was once the only beach Black Miamians could access during segregation. Starting the day with a beach cleanup wasn’t just the right thing to do—it set the tone. This wasn’t about taking over a space. It was about giving something back.

What This Really Was

SESH ON THE BEACH: Miami wasn’t a launch, or a promo, or a “cannabis lifestyle” event. It was people from different places coming together for something that felt natural and real. It reminded us that cannabis gatherings don’t have to be loud to be powerful. They can be thoughtful. Grounded. Honest.

That’s what made this one hit different.
